Appalachian State University

College of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, cooperating teachers and principals will attend two Saturday sessions focusing on developing an assessment procedure that informs practice and can be used as a summative assessment tool by supervisors. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to develop webprocessing skills and will develop active learning activities and technology enhanced project-based activities that integrate available and appropriate technologies aligned with NCSCS, INTASC, NETS-T.

School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, and clinical teachers (cooperating teachers) will attend ECU Saturday Technology School on Saturdays during fall and spring semesters. These three hour mini-workshops focus on basic computer skills, Internet tools, designing instructional webpages, PowerPoint, digital editing, video editing and other topics. Faculty and clinical teachers will also attend a one and one half day summer workshop focusing on NC Wise Owl, SAS inSchool, Learn NC, Web Quests, Assistive Technology, Integrating technology, Digital Cameras, Scanners, and other topics.

Teams consisting of School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, and cooperating teachers will create web page learning modules using Netscape Communicator Composer to provide added practice/tips for Praxis test students. The "Praxis Attack" teams will prepare modules to help Praxis test students with trouble areas and to relieve test anxiety and stress.

School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, and cooperating teachers will participate in a two-day workshop focusing on "Web-based Instruction as an Alternative Teaching Strategy K-16". Topics will include integrating technology rich learning resources into the curriculum, identifying and evaluating educational resources on the Web, using digital cameras, creating a classroom Web Page, creating a Power Point presentation, and developing professional portfolios.

School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, and cooperating teachers will participate in a series of two hour workshops focusing on using BlackBoard, designing WebQuests for students, teaching on-line, PowerPoint, working with graphics and sound, multimedia uses in teaching and using Outlook, exploring the Web for instruction, designing an instructional website, and using FrontPage.

School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, and cooperating teachers will attend a Tech and Teach Awareness Day focusing on technology integration and enhancing technology awareness. Sessions will include Best Practice Model for Multimedia in the Classroom, Diversity Issues in Education, NC Classes Online, SAS inSchool Software, Apple iMovies/Multimedia, Pros and Cons of Online Courses, Assistive Technologies, and Inspiration.

(Two initiatives underway)
MEGA (Middle Educators Global Activities) will provide three-hour training sessions for cooperating teachers four times a year giving teachers the opportunity to work on a collegial basis with others to focus attention on the issue of integrating technology into the middle school curriculum. The sessions will offer topics related to technology-enabled learning environments.

MentorNet (a PT3 project focused on the improvement of technological experiences for preservice students) will provide two-hour workshops six times during the school year for teacher education faculty and content area faculty focusing on topics pertaining to technology infusion and Web design.

Teacher Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty and cooperating teachers will attend a series of workshops on specific topics including web page design and creation, using the Internet in teaching, using WebQuest for instruction, working with multimedia images, spreadsheets, databases, and instructional design to design the ideal learning environment. Education faculty will attend the Western Region IHE Technology Workshop hosted by UNCA. Topics include Evaluation Services, Copyright in the Digital Age, NC Wise Owl, Hart Software, and Kaleidoscope.

Three sessions of a two-day workshop will be offered to Teacher Education Faculty from the Middle Grades program, Arts and Sciences Faculty and cooperating teachers from the Middle Grades program. These hands-on training sessions will focus on high-quality online educational technology resources that are available to enhance instruction and engage students in learning. Participants will develop a web-based student activity.

Teacher Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty and cooperating teachers will participate in six-hour sessions being offered in the fall and spring focusing on technology integration best practice. Topics of the workshops include word document and Internet training, PowerPoint, HyperStudio and other topics as determined by a needs assessment.

UNC Greensboro

Teams consisting of UNCG Faculty, a UNCG student, the public school teacher who is supervising the field experience (and in some teams the principal) will choose one of three projects offered for the day including a webquest, a technology rich unit, or a set of lessons using Inspiration. The instructor will introduce the strand, teach any skills involved and guide them through the development of the project. There will be two sessions for participants.

Integrated Technology Retreat at NCCAT, Cullowhee� Teacher Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty, public school cooperating teachers and administrators will attend an integrated technology retreat designed to provide technology skills, ideas for effective pedagogy, renewed enthusiasm and inspiration for participants. The goal will be to better prepare the university and public school faculty to enhance students' learning with the addition of effective technology materials and strategies.

The School of Education Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Faculty and cooperating teachers will participate in professional development sessions focusing on strengthening teaching and learning with instructional technology. Some of the workshop topics include using hand held devices for assessment, Lectura Software, and Internet integration for cooperating teachers. A team of representatives of university faculty and P-12 educators will determine other topics.

Western Carolina University

Teacher Education Faculty and Arts and Sciences Faculty will attend a Fall Instructional Technology Retreat focusing on best practices using instructional technologies in the education of PK-16 students. Topics will include assessment procedures of the technology portfolio, overview of curriculum building technologies, and technology initiatives that support the integration of technology into all preservice courses. Cooperating teachers will participate in one of six technology portfolio orientation sessions focusing on portfolio assessment procedures.

School of Education Faculty and Arts and Sciences Faculty will participate in two day professional development sessions focusing on developing multimedia resources for instruction, making teacher education courses web-enhanced, and creating electronic portfolios. Cooperating teachers will participate in a two day hands-on workshop focusing on effective use of the Internet and WebQuest for instruction, creating digital images, audio and video for Web projects, developing multimedia presentations, and using spreadsheets as a tool for problem solving in the classroom.
